Maria Nathanail practices primarily in the areas of corporate finance, capital markets and securities regulation, as well as business and corporate commercial law. Ms. Nathanail has represented both public and private clients in respect of mergers and acquisitions, equity (public and private) and debt securities financings, corporate reorganizations and corporate structuring with a particular interest in the exempt market. In addition, Ms. Nathanail has advised on corporate governance issues, disclosure matters and regulatory compliance and has also been involved in a variety of intellectual property transactions and arrangements. Ms. Nathanail’s practice is focused on advising start-up and junior private companies and mutual fund trusts through all stages of business including initial organization and formation.
Ms. Nathanail received her Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 2006. Ms. Nathanail joined Burstall Winger Zammit LLP as an Associate in 2012. She previously was an Associate at another major Canadian law firm and worked as in-house counsel to an energy-focused income fund.
Ms. Nathanail is a member of the Securities Law and Business Law subsections of the Canadian Bar Association. Ms. Nathanail participates in the Canadian Bar Association Mentor program and is also a volunteer with the Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta. Ms. Nathanail is the Corporate Secretary and a member of the board of directors of several private companies in a variety of sectors and industries including oil and gas services, land development and technology.
