Murray Harris practices in the dispute resolution and employment groups and assists the securities and corporate finance groups with matters requiring litigation skills. He values practical, cost-effective resolutions for clients’ litigation problems. Mr. Harris has appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta, the British Columbia Supreme Court, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Cayman Islands Grand Court in matters concerning professional liability, insurance, construction, bodily injury, employment, commercial and contractual issues. Mr. Harris has advised clients through trial, summary trial, appeals and at numerous JDRs and mediations and is listed on the Canadian Defence Lawyers/Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association arbitration roster. Mr. Harris has also acted in matters before the Alberta Securities Commission, the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI).
Mr. Harris is a member of a variety of professional organizations including the Canadian Defence Lawyers, Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, and was the Vice-Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s Insurance sub-section in Southern Alberta in 2007.
Mr. Harris is originally from Calgary but has also practiced in B.C. and the Cayman Islands. From high school until 2007, Murray served in the Canadian military and remains an active supporter of veteran’s organizations. Murray contributes to his community as an active volunteer with Scouts Canada.
