Sabina Shah practices primarily in the area of corporate finance, capital markets and securities regulation, as well as general corporate and commercial law. She acts for both financial advisors and issuers in respect of equity and debt securities financings (including initial public offerings and secondary financings), mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and all dealings with regulators including stock exchanges and securities commissions. In addition, her practice involves asset acquisitions, dispositions and general corporate and commercial matters.
Ms. Shah received her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa in 2002. Prior to her law degree she studied Political Science and International Development at McGill University. Ms. Shah articled at a national firm and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2003. Ms. Shah joined Burstall Winger Zammit LLP as an associate in 2005. She became a partner in January 2013.
Ms. Shah is the Chair of the Securities Section of the Canadian Bar Association. Ms. Shah is also an active community volunteer, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of Calgary and Area, a member of the Community Development Committee of the Calgary Stampede and a member of the Council of Champions of the Calgary Public Library Foundation Board of Directors.
Ms. Shah has professional affiliations with the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar Association.
