Spencer Chimuk practices primarily in dispute resolution. His practice involves contractual disputes, employment disputes, shareholder litigation, builders’ liens and construction disputes, debt recovery, and various other civil and commercial litigation matters. He has appeared before the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and the Alberta Provincial Court. Mr. Chimuk has also participated as lead counsel and second counsel in alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediation and arbitration.
Mr. Chimuk received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Winnipeg in 2008, and his Master of Arts from McGill University in 2010. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba in 2013. Mr. Chimuk also spent a summer abroad in 2011 studying human rights law and international business law at the University of Jerusalem in Israel.
Mr. Chimuk joined Burstall Winger Zammit LLP as a summer student in 2012, and became an associate in 2014. He was called to the Alberta Bar in 2014.
Mr. Chimuk has professional affiliations with the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, and the Advocates’ Society. He also volunteers with the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education, and is on the Board of the Directors of the Keys to Recovery Society, which provides housing and case management services to vulnerable adults in the Calgary area.
