Robert Onley was called to the Bar in 2013. He is an Associate of Regent Law in the Ottawa office. Before joining Regent Law, Robert worked in the International Security and Political Affairs branch at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development. Robert’s previous practice experience includes work for a global management consulting firm in Toronto. Robert’s practice covers many areas of litigation including Commercial Litigation, Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Restructuring, International Regulatory Litigation, and Corporate Counsel.
Robert graduated from the University of Toronto in 2009 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Specialist Degree in Political Science, and obtained his Juris Doctor in 2012 from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. While in law school, Robert served as President of the Students’ Law Society, chaired various student government committees, and played on Windsor Law’s hockey team.
Robert is the Co-Founder and pro bono Legal Counsel for the Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC), a Canadian non-partisan, non-profit, youth-led diplomatic leadership organization, where he previously served as the Executive Director. He has represented Canada abroad at the annual Y8 and Y20 Summits, and the 2014 Nuclear Knowledge Summit. Robert is also the former Curator of the Ottawa Hub of the Global Shapers Community, part of the World Economic Forum. Robert is an avid writer whose work has appeared widely globally, from the National Post to the Jerusalem Post.
